eCampus Overview

eCampus: full online courses help more Georgians access an education

What is eCampus?
Through eCampus, a new instructional delivery system, Atlanta Technical College can now provide the same full online courses, as the private universities but at a fraction of the cost.

What programs are available through e-campus?
Students can now complete two-year associate degrees in accounting, business administrative technology, marketing management, and management supervisory development programs of study, all online.

How were the programs selected?
Campus administrators looked for programs that were popular with students that did not include a significant lab or tool component.

Is this the first time that ATC has offered online programs?
For several years, Atlanta Technical College has offered hybrid or web-enhanced courses.  In a hybrid class, instruction for approximately half of the course is web-based and the remainder is delivered face-to-face in a classroom or lab setting.

College administrators recognized that there was a need to provide services to a different model of non-traditional students, which is why full online programs are now offered. Busy executives and working adults who want to improve their employability can now get an education on their time without worrying about how to get from work in Buckhead or Fairburn; to campus before class starts.  These courses are also great options for members of our military who may need to continue their studies while they are deployed in another state or overseas.

How will these programs help ATC reach a broader audience?
Online programs can offer much greater academic flexibility for students as they try to balance their family lives and work schedules while furthering their educational opportunities.  It is an ideal opportunity for students who can’t attend campus classes due to work or family obligations.

What kinds of resources are available to online students?
Prior to taking classes, students have an opportunity to complete an online orientation that provides answers to questions regarding using the online learning management system. Once enrolled, students have access to GALILEO, which is the Georgia Library Learning Online System.  This library system offers access to thousands of magazine, newspaper, and journal articles covering a broad range of subject areas as well as access to an online tutoring service called SMARTTHINKING. This service uses the Internet to connect students with professional tutors for assistance with English and math. Technological support is also available through the College’s computer labs and IT department.
